soap opera(d) news

"news" in the USA is now en masse reduced to the "soap operas" that are a realistic reflection of its social mentality en masse.

escaping "philosophy"

escaping "philosophy" as it is constituted and taught, by reading through it till beyond it, is perhaps the only hope of finding some wisdom and insight. otherwise one remains trapped in interconnected intellectual mazes -- with virtually no exits, (mis)named eg Kant, Leibnitz, Descartes

the America religion

"America" as an historical, earthly surrogate, shared religion, with much passionate belief

why or how?

in college days most studied -- rather most often not -- how to learn to make a living.

enlightening lightning

a history of the understanding of lightning is needed, including the influence of lightning in and on history, from eg Moses in the clouds on the mountain in Sinai, through Luther's pledging to St Anne to become a monk, to the purely physical view of lightning.

indeferential treatment

when finishing the concluding chapter of Candide in Carpe Diem...

a young man of the cloth, perhaps from the nearby Jesuit college or Episcopal school, enters, sits, and keys on his iphone as capably as any teen.

he receives no -- by this time few if any would even imagine to be such -- public deference.

black shirt, white collar -- otherwise he is externally and internally indistinquishable..
and who nowadays might expect him to have had any veridical metanoia as of Moses, Paul, Luther, Pascal?
to each his own career.

thoughts in/on the USA: for nicemen* only

self-selling vs self-knowledge

insipidization via US television

a radical, unreflective this-worldliness

America is for Steppenwolf's "everyone": "For everyone only". "for sanemen only".

television advertising as nationally broadcast psychic abuse

all mediocres are created equal

mediocrities vs superocrities

(*nice, from nescience)

"For everyone only"

"Harry Haller", Hesse's biographical Steppenwolf character, a solitary creature living in a society for everyone.
American society and mentality is for everyone.

american tv

no intelligent person could be other than offended and dismayed at even 10 minutes of US television programs. "news" included.
